KXSF Album of the Month. November 2018.
Courtney Barnett deserves to be called one of the best songwriters of our times and she proves it once again with this new album. After her acclaimed collaboration with Kurt Vile and The Sea Lice, she releases “Tell Me How You Really Feel,” her third full-length album. This Australian songwriter comes back with great songs and keeps surprising us with her simplicity and convincing melodic honesty. We couldn’t be happier about it. It is indeed one of the best albums of 2018.
This album is comprised by ten great songs that fluctuate in style and rhythm. This variety helps, without a doubt, to make this album a great one. It includes rock and roll anthems, full of guitar riffs, like “City Looks Pretty,” “Need a Little Time” and “Nameless, Faceless” as well as the more grunge Nirvanesque “I’m not Your Mother, I’m Not Your Bitch.”
“Tell Me How You Really Feel” is as good as the rest of her albums. It certainly deserves to be our KXSF Album of the Month.
